Catfish stomp Saturday

The Elgin Catfish Stomp will return Saturday for its fourth year with a Christmas parade. gallons of catfish stew and entertainment.

The yearly celebration in the town of about 600 will start at 11 a.m. with a 100-unit Christmas parade which will be followed by the 600gallons of catfish stew to be served at the Blaney Elementary School gym.

There will be two road races starting from the gym about noon, including a one-mile and 10,000 meter race.

The day will include performances by the Army National Guard helicopter unit and the U. S. Army band.

In the afternoon, Agriculture Commissioner Bryan Patrick will sing, the Palmetto Cloggers will dance and a disco will be held later in the afternoon.
