Lavinia Abbott Branham was born 1878 in South Carolina, the daughter of John Percival Abbott and Sallie Elkins Abbott.

On January 6, 1922, Mrs. Vannie Brannon was listed as a living daughter in the obituary of John Percival Abbott.

1932

On March 26, 1932, Mrs. Viney Branham was listed as a living sister in the obituary of Rasmus W. Abbott.

1936

On September 17, 1936, Mrs. Rupert Branham, was listed as a living sister in the obituary of J. E. Abbott.

1937

Mrs. Robert J. Branham, wife of Robert James Branham of Blaney, died at 3:45 Saturday afternoon, April 10, 1937, at the Baptist hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Branham was the daughter of Percival Abbott and Sallie Elkins Abbott and was born on her father’s plantation near Blaney June 10, 1878. She lived there until she reached young womanhood and after her marriage resided in Columbia for a number of years. During the past few years she has resided near the palace of her birth and has lived on a part of the plantation where she was born.

Mrs. Branham is survived by her husband, Robert James Branham of Blaney; four sons, Ernest L. Branham, a federal attorney in Chicago; J. G. Branham and Oscar H. Branham of Columbia and Fred Branham of Blaney, and two brothers, John R. Abbott and M. K. Abbott of Columbia, her stepmother, Mrs. Percival Abbott, Columbia, and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Branham was beloved by all who knew here for her splendid qualities. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a sincere friend. She was a Baptist by faith, having affiliated herself with Harmony Baptist Church near Blaney, when she was a young girl and has been an active member since that time. She was a Christian in every sense of the word and exerted every effort to influence others. Her many fiends both in Columbia and the Community in which she lived immediately prior to her death will be grieved to learn of her passing.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o’clock Monday afternoon from Harmony Baptist church by the Rev. J. L. Willis, pastor. Interment will be in churchyard. THe body will remain at McCormick’s mortuary until the hour of the funeral.
