LUGOFF – Funeral service for John Donald Nelson, 67, will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Springvale Baptist Church with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Todd Horton and the Rev. Ed Stokes will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Connie Maxwell Children’s Home at P.O. Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648.

Mr. Nelson passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015. Born in Camden, he was a son of the late John M. Nelson and Thelma Hornsby Nelson. He graduated from Blaney High School in 1966. Mr. Nelson was a member of Springvale Baptist Church. He retired from Mead Westvaco after 40 plus years. He enjoyed work, woodworking, traveling, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Barbara Murajda Nelson; sons, Jason Nelson (Shannon) of Lugoff, Matthew Nelson (Amy) of Elgin; grandchildren, Rebecca, Mackenzie, and Hannah Nelson; and a sister, Wanda Jean Broughton of Cassatt.
