LUGOFF – Funeral Services for James M. Hornsby, 71, retired farmer of Lugoff, are incomplete. The body was to remain at the Pascal Funeral Home until this afternoon, when it was to be taken to the home of Mrs. J. S. Branham in Lugoff.

He died Sunday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. S. Branham, after an extended illness.

He was born in Fairfield County, son of the late Silas Hornsby and Eliza Branham Hornsby. He attended Springvale Baptist Church near Lugoff.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Janie Dinkins of Pontiac, Mrs. J. S. Branham of Lugoff, Mrs. Mack Branham of Blaney and Mrs. Edmond Johnson of Aiken; one son Ezell Hornsby of Henderson, Tex.; two brothers, Mr. M. H. Hornsby of Blaney and Turner Hornsby of Blythewood; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

James M. (“Papa”) Hornsby, 71, retired farmer of Lugoff, died Sunday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. S. Branham, after an extended illness.

Hornsby Funeral This Afternoon

Funeral Services for James M. (“Papa”) Hornsby, 71, will be conducted at 3:30 this afternoon from Springvale Baptist Church near Springvale Baptist Church near Lugoff conducted by the Rev. Fred Metts, pastor, the Rev. Richard Brookshire, and the Rev. M. S. McLean.

Interment will follow in Old Kelly Cemetery near Kelly’s mill.

Mr. Hornsby, retired farmer of Lugoff, died Sunday afternoon after an extended illness.

Active pallbearers will be Ellerbee Hornsby, Edmund Hornsby, Otto Hornbsy, Roy Hornsby, Cranshaw Branham, and F. H. Ross.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brutus Rabon, Gardner Kelly, L. P. (“Doc”) Branham, Joseph Hornsby, Leonard Paschal, Lee Teake, Earl Jacobs, Glenn Jacobs, J. B. Dunnaway, Brooks Branham, Sidney Heath, Willie Branham, and Johnny Rabon.
