Jack Fortner and Carolyn Fortner of Elgin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 18, 2011. They were married on November 18, 1961, at Union Baptist Church Parsonage by the late Rev. George Partridge in Blaney (Elgin), S.C.

Carolyn is the daughter of the late Eddie Ross and Mildred Ross of Elgin, and Jack is the son of Ruth Fortner and the late Clark Fortner of Lugoff.

Their children, Ms. Vicki Fortner of Lexington, and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie (Jill) Slater of Elgin; and grandchildren, Jack and Rylie Slater, acknowledged the occasion with the gift of a family cruise to Cozumel and Calica Mexico with family and friends to celebrate.
