Samuel Leroy Crumpton was born March 30, 1937 in Elgin, a son of John Jabez Crumpton and Mattie Atkerson Crumpton.

ELGIN – Funeral service for Samuel L. Crumpton, 62, will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Sawneys Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Richard Humphries. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Bernice Smith Fund, P.O. Box 11304, Columbia, SC, 29211, or to the church, Highway 34 East, Ridgeway, SC, 29130.

Mr. Crumpton died Monday, January 17, 2000. Born in Elgin, he was a son of the late John J. Crumpton and Mattie Crumpton. He was a former manager of Pontiac Tire and Alignment and, later, owner of S&N Tire and Automotive. He was a member of Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving is his wife Nattlee Peake Crumpton; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald D. and Jayne M. Crumpton; granddaughter, Lisa Marie Crumpton; sisters, Christine Wiedemann, Lois Daniels, all of Columbia, Cleo Daughery of Lexington; brother, Alfred Crumpton of Elgin.
