The Children and grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Ross, of Blaney, gathered at their home Sunday and honored their father, L. D. Ross with a surprise birthday party for his 55th birthday.

The guest were Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Ross, Mrs. and Mrs. Rufus Cooper (Connie Ross Cooper) and children, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Kelly, all of Columbia, H. J. Gladden, of New Brookland, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Nelson (Ines Ross Nelson) of Winnsboro, Mrs. David Brazil, J. T. Ross and Soiler Ross and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ross, all of Blaney.

The Intermediate department of College Place church will give a Christmas play at the church at 7:30 Sunday evening. The cast is composed of 20 characters and is called the “Bells of Bethlehem.” The play is being directed by the teachers of the department.

The Arden P. T. A. held its December meeting at the school Wednesday afternoon. After a short business session presided over by Mrs. J. W. Rheney a play by the children was given called “Betty and Robby’s Christmas.” The children taking part were, Aleda Stevenson, Billy Hagins, Geneva Lorick, Sallie Lou Swindler, Jack Hollis, Jean Hagin, Dorothy Hood, Eugene Mangum, Mary Still, Doris Flowers, Danle Goldson, Lelia Bell Kimbrell, Mary Jane Klutz, Tommy Gregory, Teddy Rheney, Polly Martin, Billy Stevenson, Charles Jones, Marshall Hicks, Billy Swindler, Harold Dye, Mendel Lee, Jimmy Owen, Earle Broom, Kenneth Baldwin, Jack Easler, Donald Littlejohn, Ellis Hornsby, Richard Hyman, George Nelson, Robert Ruff, Dorothy Clary, Louise Gibbons and Arline Gibbons, Francis Hair, LaVerne Hicks, Camilla Landrum, Dorisue Miles, Miriam Poole, Margery Romanstine, Mary Shaw, Francis Stevenson, Virginia Wadford, Mary Bland, Anne Webb and Jean Webb, Lillian Wilson, Myrtle Sease, Mary Easterling, Betty Davis, and Lucille Norton. This play was directed by Miss Ruth Matthews and Miss Aliene Shannon. The second and third grade mother’s served tea and sandwiches after the play.

Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Goldson and son and Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Goldson and two children visited relatives in St. Matthews Sunday.

Mrs. A. S. Colemans, of Douglas, Ga., is the guest of Professor and Mr. W. W. Weber.

C. B. Dowdle, of Heath Springs, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Hagins this week.

Miss Beula Mae Seale, of Sumter, was the guest of Mrs. James Flowers Sunday.
