Catfish Stomp

They’ll be cooking up the catfish stew by the gallon in Elgin this weekend for the annual Catfish Stomp. The parade begins at 11 a.m. Saturday with prizes and trophies awarded to marching bands and parade floats. Blackie the talking cat will be on hand along with booths, exhibits and entertainment. For lunch, of course, there will be catfish stew as well as fried chicken beginning at noon in Blaney School cafeteria. A disco dance begins at 7 p.m.
