Thomas Daniel West was born January 2, 1932 in Kershaw County, South Carolina, son of Daniel Alexander West and Leola “Ola” Minerva Horton West

1940 Census Information:

According to the United States Census reported on May 1, 1940, Daniel West (54) owned a home in Buffalo Township, Kershaw, South Carolina, with his wife, Ola West (46), and their children; Kate West (23), Walter West (19), Sarah West (17), Marjie West (14), Nancy West (11), Thomas West (8) and Johnnie West (3). All family members were reported to have been born in South Carolina and lived in the same house on April 1, 1935. Daniel West was a farmer on a farm and Walter West was a common labor in refrigeration.

KERSHAW – A private service for Thomas Daniel West, 88, will be held at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, Kershaw, S.C. Rev. Todd Gandy will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Providence Baptist Church Building Fund.

     Mr. West passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.  Born in Kershaw County, on January 2, 1932, he was the son of the late Daniel Alexander West and Ola Minerva Horton West. He loved talking with people and never met a stranger. He retired from the logging business and enjoyed working with his grapevines and gathering pecans.

    Surviving is his wife, Linda B. Payne; daughters, Terri Bowers (John) and Amy Wilson (William); grandchildren, John Kyle Bowers (Kristi), Courtney Lynn Taylor (Stephen), and Greyson Dabney; great-grandchildren, Kelsie Bowers, Kase Bowers, Aubrey Taylor, Braelyn Taylor, and Corrie Layne Taylor; sister, Nancy Hilton; and brother, Johnny West (Myra).

He was predeceased by his siblings, Kate Reeves, Walter West, Sarah Evans, Margie Watson, and Mabel West; brother-in-law, Eric Hilton.

On November 27, 2022, Thomas West was mentioned as a deceased brother in the obituary of Nancy West Hilton.
