Highway #1, Blaney, Kershaw, South Carolina with his wife Willie Macnettles Wooten (25), and their children; Lemuel William Wooten (7), Dorothy Wray Wooten (3), Shelby Jean Wooten (1), and his brothers Irby Bruce Wooten (18), and George Vernon Wooten (21), and his cousin, David Williams Nettles (61) It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. Charles Wray Wooten was an operator for WPA, his wife Willie Macnettles Wooten kept house, Lemuel William Wooten and Dorothy Wray Wooten attended school, Shelby Jean Wooten was too young to attend school, Irby Bruce Wooten was unemployed, George Vernon Wooten was a truck drive for the WPA road project, David Williams Nettles was a salesman.

2008
Funeral services with military rites for George V. “Sarge” Nettles will be held Monday, April 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Blaney Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Phillip Blankenship and Rev. Bill Mattox will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 6, 2008 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Kornegay Funeral Home Lugoff Elgin Chapel. Memorials may be made to Blaney Baptist Church, 1400 Blaney Road, Elgin, SC 29045.
Mr. Nettles died Friday, April 4, 2008. Born in Blaney, he was the son of the late Joseph Nettles and Rebecca Aldrich Nettles. Mr. Nettles was a retired logger and former owner/operator of Nettles Grocery. He was a member of Blaney Baptist Church and a US Army World War II veteran having served in the European Theatre. Mr. Nettles was an avid fisherman and gardener.
Surviving are daughter, Phyllis N. Mitchell of Elgin; sons, Joel Nettles (Elizabeth) of Elgin and Gregory Nettles (Angela) of Camden; 8 grandchildren; half sister, Ruby Brown, of North.
He was predeceased by his wife, Pearl Goff Nettles, sisters, Alma Goff, Emily Kirkland, and Willie Mae Wooten; brother, Irby Nettles.
Mr. Nettles grandsons, Scott Mitchell, Brian Nettles, Aaron Nettles, Matthew Nettles, Phillip Nettles and Dustin Nettles will serve as active pallbearers. Mr. Nettles granddaughters, Amanda Mitchell and Emily Nettles will serve as honorary pallbearers. Vic Marthers and Bill Hyman will also serve as honorary pallbearers.
