Myrtle Rabon Geddings, widow of George “Gerald” Geddings, passed away on January 7, 2021 surrounded by family. She was the daughter of the late Burtis Rabon and Evelyn Branham Rabon. After the loss of her mother at the age of 16, she became a caregiver to her father, brothers and sisters. Later she was the best caregiver to her husband after he had a stroke in 2005.
Myrtle was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Camden, SC, where she served in many ways, including providing flowers for the sanctuary, until her recent illness. In the community, Myrtle was known to have a giving heart as demonstrated by supplying snacks for the postman, city workers on her street, bringing candy or snacks to the staff at various doctors’ offices she visited during her lifetime, and always having candy or snacks to share with tellers at the bank. She gave up her career as a nurse to become a mom. She was so talented in so many ways – gardening, flower arranging, quilting, cross stitching, ceramics, macramé and was the best cook ever! She loved to host parties for friends and family better than any caterer could do. She loved to spoil her grandchildren as much as possible. She always spoke her mind and you always knew where you stood with her, good or bad!
For the past number of years, Myrtle has suffered from dementia, cared for by her daughter, Karen G. Dailey, along with Bryant and Samantha Parker, entire staff of Morningside of Camden, and The Colonial of Old Camden.
Mrs. Geddings is survived by her sister, Frances Ryan; daughters Susan Geddings Porter, Karen Geddings Dailey (Kevin), grandson Paul Bryant Parker (Samantha) and K. Brandon Dailey; granddaughter Lindsay T. Dailey and great grandsons Paul Bryant Parker Jr. (Junior), Matthew Small and Mason Vincent Parker, Chase Alexander Dailey and great granddaughters Olivia Tyler Dailey, Emerson Lee Dailey.
Besides her mother and father, Mrs. Geddings was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, George “Gerald” Geddings of 61; sister, Esther Rabon Faulk; brothers, Thurman Rabon, Lonnie Rabon, Alfred Rabon, Clyde Rabon and Murray Rabon.
A special thanks to the outstanding caregivers of ABC Caregivers and Compassionate Care Hospice who sat with her night and day and gave her love and care when the family could not be there.
Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
