A funeral service to celebrate the life of Charles Henry Jackson, 83, of Camden, will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Rev. Gene Stokes and Dewitt Atkerson will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. For those choosing to stay in their cars for the service, you can listen by tuning your car radio to 103.5 FM. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 6:00 – 7:30PM at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Those wishing to make memorials in Charles’ memory may do so to the charity of one’s choice.

Charles died on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late James Thomas Jackson and Mary Ellen Hinson Jackson. Charles was a 1954 graduate of Camden High School, a 10 year SC National Guardsman, and retired after 54 years as a salesman with Blake and Ford. A member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Charles served as a former deacon, children’s church director, choir member, former Sunday School teacher, and former bus ministry director. He was a member of the Gospel Echoes Quartet for over 50 years. Charles collected and traded many cars over the years, and was a member of the National Oldsmobile Club of America.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Atkerson Jackson; daughters, Cyndi J. Henderson (Mark), Rita Asaro (Paul); grandchildren, Mark Henderson II (Brooke), Emily McManus (Josh), Ashton Schreiber (Tobias), and Bonnie Dudley (Rob); great-grandchildren, Madelynn Henderson, Mark Wayne Henderson, and Scarlett Henderson, Charlie McManus, Cash McManus, and Indiana McManus, Jadyn Schreiber and Cameron Schreiber, Ella Dudley and Beck Dudley, Bella Anders, Everly Davidson and Jaxon Davidson; sister, Sue Pullen (Wilbert); brothers, Jerry Jackson (Shirley), and Bruce Jackson; special aunt, Emily Canady; and nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his sister, Ruby J. Clayton.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
