1900 Census Information:
According to the United States census reported on July 11, 1900, George Self (37), rented a home in Kershaw County, South Carolina, with his wife of 16 years, Annie M Self (39) and their children; Thomas Self (12), Rochell Self (10) and Marry M Self (6). It was reported that all family members were born in South Carolina. George Self, Thomas Self and Rochell Self were farm laborers.
1918
On September 12, 1918, Thomas Washington Self completed his World War I Draft Registration Card. He was described as medium height, medium build, gray eyes, black hair.

1930 Census Information:
According to the United States census reported on April 21, 1930, Tommie W Self (47), rented a home in Alligator, Chesterfield, South Carolina, with his wife, Henry E Self (49), and their children; Dantoon Self (19), Viola Self (17), Lannie Self (15), Wade Self (13) and James Self (11). It was reported that all family members were born in South Carolina. Tommie W Self, Dantoon Self and Lannie Self were farm laborers on a general farm.
1957
CHESTERFIELD, Jan. 19- (Special) – Thomas W. Self, 78, died at his home near Chesterfield Friday, January 18, 1957 after a long illness.
Survivors include his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Viola Huggins, Mrs. Henry Martin and Mary Self, Clara Self and Janie Self of the home; three sons, James Self, Wade Self and Dalton Self; three sisters, Mrs. Jack Brown of Blaney of Blaney, Mrs. Bennie Baker of Westville and Mrs. Bart Gant of Elgin; two brothers, Henry Self of Westville and Willie Self of Chesterfield; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will conducted from Oakland Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 1957. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
