Party for Younger Set

Mrs. T. H. Hughey entertained about forty-five boys and girls of the younger set Saturday afternoon from :430 to 6:30 at her home in the Hyatt Park in celebration of the twelfth birthday of her son, Alvin.

The whole lower floor was thrown open and attractively decorated with quantities of red roses with an attractive centre table upon which was a lovely basket of Easter eggs topped with a “bunny” driving little chicks.

As they arrived the girls were given pretty red crepe paper aprons and the boys yellow crepe ties, thus securing their partners for the afternoon.

All sorts of games are played were played on the lawn, an enjoyable feature of the afternoon being a “bunny” race for the boys, the girls being given candy “polka chips” to bet on their favorite. Bryan Roddey won the race and received a book and Allie Ruth Wise having picked the winner and won the most “money” was given a novelty party bag.

They were hen invited into the dining room which was effectively decorated in Easter lilies, red and yellow streamers were drawn from the chandelier to the four corners of the table, which had for its centerpiece the lovely birthday cake with its twelve gleaming candles. Ices and sweets were served, and the favors were little Easter “chicks.”

Mrs. Hughey was assisted during the afternoon by her daughter, Miss Virginia Hughey and Mrs. D. D. Bundrick.

Easter Egg Hunt

And enjoyable Easter egg hunt was given by the Golden Rule Circle of King’s Daughters at the Arden school house in College Place, Monday afternoon. About 50 children were present.

Birthday Party

Leonard Brown celebrated his 9th birthday with a lovely party at the home of his mother, Mrs David W Brown in Colonial Heights on Monday afternoon. The children played many games on the lawn and in the Easter egg hunt, Gretchen Calloway was awarded the prize for finding the most eggs. Delightful fruit punch and cake was served in the dining room which was decorated in Dogwood and other wildflowers. About a dozen children enjoyed this delightful party.

Mrs. Carmichael Visits Parents

Mrs. Neil Carmichael of Dillon is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. McCain in Colonial Heights.

Miss Sadie Hewit of Marion is the guest of Miss Ruth Crary at her home in Hyatt Park.

Returns Home

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Crim have returned to North after visiting their daughter, Mrs. C. M. Morgan in Colonial Heights.

Motor from Orangeburg

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dix of Orangeburg were the recent guest of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Thomas in Colonial Heights. They came through the country in their car.

Visiting mother

Mrs Vernon C. Elliott and little son, Vernon C. Elliott, Jr., of Lowell, N. C., is visiting he mother, Mrs. David W. Brown in Colonial Heights.

John Langford of Camden is the guest of his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Hebert Langford in College Place.

Mrs Davis Better

The friends of Mrs. Pope Davis will be glad to learn that she is recovering from a serious illness at her home in Colonial Heights.

Spent Day In Country.

Mr. and Mrs. O. G. Donny and children, Mrs. R. C. Nash and Miss Ann Donny spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hovermote at their country home near Blaney.

Miss McCain spent the weekend at her home in Colonial Heights.

Eau Claire Missionary Society

The Ladies’ Missionary Society of the Eau Claire Presbyterian church will meet Monday afternoon at 4 o’clock with Mrs. H. W. McCreight at her home on Wildwood avenue in Hyatt Park.
