A Funeral service for Charles Spurgeon Ellis, Sr., 92, will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Wateree Baptist Church, 2024 Haile Street, Camden, SC  Rev. Bobby James and Rev.  Taylor Wells will officiate.  The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM, one hour prior to the service, in the Family Life Center.  Memorials may be made to the Wateree Baptist Church Cemetery Committee, 2024 Haile Street, Camden.

Charles died Tuesday, July 20, 2021.  The son of the late John Sidney and Ethel Van Moore Ellis.  Charles was a United States Army veteran, served in the Korean War and was a member of the National Guard for 10 years.  He was a member of the Wateree Baptist Church, former deacon and longtime Cemetery Committee Member.  Charles was also a member of Post 17 American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW

Charles is survived by his wife, Mary Alicia Robinson Ellis; daughters, Marsha Cooley, Gail Dion (Al), Robin Rabon (VC “Babo”); sister, Eloise Hinson; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Charles was predeceased by his son, Charles “Chuck” Ellis, Jr.; sisters, Grace McNeely, Willie Sharpe, Merlene Ellis, Mary Langley, Ruth Merrell; brothers Ted, Zemp, Elmer “Boge” and Kendall Ellis.
