Algenon Easler was born in 1839 in Fairfield, South Carolina, USA a child of Daniel Easler and Cecilia Blanche Dawkins.

Funeral services for the late Algenon Easler, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. F. Dent in Edgewood, Thursday afternoon are being held at Smyrna Methodist Church, near Blaney, Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock.

Mr. Easler was 85 years of age and until about ten years ago was a planter in Fairfield county. Since retiring he had been making his home in Columbia. He was a gallant survivor of the Confederate army serving throughout the campaign of 1861 to 1865 with Co. B. Seventh South Carolina regiment under Capt. J. H. Rion. He leaves many friends to mourn his death.

Algenon Easler, 85 year old Confederate veteran, a native of Fairfield county, died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. J. F. Dent, Edgewood, yesterday afternoon about 3 o’clock.

Mr. Easler served throughout the Confederate war with Company B, Seventh South Carolina battalion, and fought under Capt. J. H. Rion. He was a brave soldier and a man who had many friends both in his native county and in Columbia. He had been living in Richland county for about ten years, retiring at that time as a Fairfield county farmer. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 4 o’clock from the Smyrna Methodist church, near Blaney.

Besides his widow, who was Miss Sallie Reynolds of Fairfield, Mr. Easler leaves five sons and four daughters. These are: J. P. Easler, J. D. Easler, R. H. Easler, H. R. Easler and T. T. Easler, all of Columbia, and Mrs. J. P. Dent and Mrs. R. T. Cook, both of Columbia, Mrs. T. G. Session of Blaney and Mrs. J. E. Bush of Pleasant Grove, Utah.
