Miss Holley and Mr. Watts Are Married

JEFFERSON (Special) – The Jefferson Baptist Church was the scene of a wedding at 5 p.m. August 14, when Miss Betty Joann Holley, granddaughter of Mrs. C. W. Holley of the Mount Pisgah section of Kershaw County, became the bride of James Bailey Watts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jasper B. Watts of Pageland. The Rev. B. W. Pinson performed the double-ring ceremony.

Miss Nancy Gallop of Jefferson and Sammy Horton of Pageland, vocalist, presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Bob Holley, and the bridegroom had his father as best man. Usher were Larry Watts, brother of the bridegroom, Billy Blakeney and Jerry Teal of Pageland; Wilson Holley, brother of the bride, and Pete Lee of Jefferson, and Kenny Rose of Blaney, cousin of the bride.

The maid of honor was Miss Anne Redfearn of Pageland. Bridesmaids were Miss Pat Griggs of Pageland, Mrs. James Carlisle Holler of Charleston, cousin of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Ray Rallings of Camden. Pamela Holley, niece of the bride, was flower girl.

The bride wore a gown of white imported organza over taffeta with bertha of embroidered organza. Her fingertip veil of illusion was attached to a tiara embroidered in seed pearls and sequins. She wore a pearl necklace, and carried a white lace fan to which was attached white orchids and tuberoses.

The bride’s grandmother entertained at a reception in the Ladies Parlor of the church.

Afterwards the couple left for a wedding trip. For traveling the bride wore a grey winter cotton dress trimmed with white organdy; grey straw and velvet hat, and grey lizard shoes and velvet bag. She wore the white orchid from her bouquet.

Mrs. Watts received here education at Jefferson High School and Winthrop College, and for the last year has held a secretarial position with Du Pont in Camden.

Mr. Watts finished Pageland High School and is a rising junior at Furman University. He is a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon, social fraternity, of which he is pledgemaster.

After September 1 the young couple will make their home in the Furman Apartments, Greenville.
