Jenkins – Ross Marriage Vows Are Spoken

Immediate members of the family close friends witnessed the marriage of Miss Lois Alida Jenkins, daughter of Mrs. Joseph Albion Rahn of Columbia and the late Frank Pressley Jenkins, to Harold Eugene Ross, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Paul Ross, Sr. (Lillian Carrie Hair Ross), of Blaney.

First Baptist Church was the setting at 2:30 p.m., August 2. The wedding music was presented by Miss Edith Plemmons, organist, and Miss Margie Ross, sister of the bridegroom, soloist. Dr. Archie Ellis preformed the ceremony.

The bride wore a wedding gown of Cupioni silk and Alencon lace, designed with a slightly elongated basque bodice fasten down the back with covered buttons. The Sabrina neckline of Alencon lace was embroidered with iridescent sequins and the short sleeves were shirred at the top. The bouffant skirt was fashioned with a scalloped hip yoke outline with a lace motif forming an apron effect at the back and ending in a chapel train. she wore long matching silk mitts. Her fingertip veil of imported bridal illusion was attached to a crown of Alencon lace like that of the gown. She carried a white Bible topped with a white orchid, with garlands of tuberoses and lilies of the valley.

Miss Annette Kirkland of West Columbia was the maid of honor.

Joseph Paul Ross, Sr., father of the bridegroom, was best man, and Joseph Paul Ross, Jr., brother of the bridegroom was the usher.

A reception was at the bride’s home on Wando Street immediately following the wedding.

Mrs. Ross is a graduate of Dreher High School, Columbia, attended Furman University and is now a Junior at the University of South Carolina School of Nursing. She will be employed by the Medical College of South Carolina, Charleston.

Mr. Ross is a graduate of Camden High School and Furman University, and is now in his Junior year at the Medical College of South Carolina. He is a member of the Phi Chi Medical Fraternity.

The couple will make their home at 135 Ashley Avenue, Charleston.

The out-of-town guest were Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Mitchell, Atlanta, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. Evander Floyd, Jacksonville, Fla.; Dr. and Mrs. S. Harry Ross Anderson, and Dr. and Mrs. R. A. Cochran, Blaney.
