At least six people have died in South Carolina traffic accident this weekend, including a Cherokee County youth who drowned.
David Littlejohn Jr., 22, of Jonesville, drowned while swimming with relatives about 3 p.m. Sunday in the Thicketty Creek eight miles east of Gaffney. Relative saw Littlejohn disappear under the water and, were unable to save him.
At least five people died in traffic accidents, the highway patrol said.
Marion Brown Sr., 45, of Wedgefield, died when his car hit a tree on a secondary road in Sumter at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Leon Miller Talley, 39, of Travelers Rest, died in an accident at 1:30 a.m., Sunday when his car struck a parked car on Pine Log Ford road in Greenville County.
Steven B. Campbell, 25, of Elgin, died at 3 a.m., Sunday when the car he was driving collided head-on with another car on U. S. 378 east of Lake City in Florence County.
Two people were killed Friday night when their motorcycle collided with larger vehicles.
Henry Thomas Shorter, 22, of Cayce, died when his motorcycle collided with a car on U.S. 1 near Columbia in Richland County; and Cecil Clippard, 65, of Greenville, died when his moped collide a truck on state road 253 in Greenville.
Thomas Freeman Perry, 50, of Liberty, was killed Friday morning in a motorcycle accident that occured before UPI begins counting weekend accidental deaths at 6 p.m.
The accidental death toll ended at midnight Sunday.
