Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Goff
Miss Laura Blume, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allie R. Blume of Blythewood, became the bride of Preston Henry Goff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Goff (Eliza Albert Goff) of Blaney, Sept. 2, in the Sandy Level Baptist Church, Blythewood.
Miss Blume, P. H. Goff Are Married
The wedding of Miss Laura Blume, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allie R. Blume of Blythewood, and Preston Henry Goff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Goff (Eliza Albert Goff) of Blaney, was solemnized on Sept. 2, at 6 o’clock, in the Sandy Level Baptist Church, Blythewood, with the Rev. C. J. Futrell, Jr., pastor of the bride, officiating.
A program of pre-nuptial music was given by Edwin Entzminger, organist and Jimmy Hutto, vocalist.
Groomsmen were John W. Blume, James Blume, Robert Blume, brother of the bride, and Bobby Goff, brother of the bridegroom. Ushers were Thomas Lomas, William Patrick Able, Lewis Stroman, brothers-in-law of the bride, and Andre Brown.
The honor attendants were Miss Frances Blume, maid of honor, and Mrs. William Patrick Able, matron of honor, both sisters of the bride, Bridesmaids included Mrs. Lewis Stroman and Mrs. Thomas Lomas, sister of the bride, Mrs. James Blume, sister-in-law of the bride, Mrs. E. C. Potter, sister of the bridegroom, Mrs. Bobby Boney, and Miss Peggy Abell.
Their dresses were rainbow colored, floor length, all nylon net with billowing bouffant skirts and apron ruching circling the skirt. Their strapless bodices had fitted detachable off-shouldered stoles. Their flowers were white chrysanthemums tied with white ribbon.
Debbie Blume, flower girl and niece of the bride, wore a cotillion blue nylon net over taffeta fashioned after the bridesmaids.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a wedding dress of floor-length Chantilly lace with an airy nylon tulle bouffant triple-tirered skirt. Its fitted bodice was topped with a lace-scalloped illusion line with long pointed lace sleeves and small buttons detailing down the back. she carried a white prayer book topped with a purple-throated white orchid. Her only ornament was a string of pearls, gift of the bridegroom.
E. C. Potter, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, was best man.
Immediately after the wedding, a reception was held in the church parlor. Mrs. P. A. Shealy, aunt of the bride, greeted the guest, Mrs. John W. Blume, sister-in-law of the bride, presided at the bride’s register. Mrs. Clara Martin, assisted by the Misses Louise Swygert, June Broom, and Patricia Wooten, served refreshments. The wedding cake was cut by Mrs. George Locklair.
After a wedding trip to Florida, Mr. and Mrs. Goff are now making their home in Blaney.
Mrs. Goff is a graduate of Blythewood High School and is employed by Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company.
Mr. Goff is a graduate of Blaney High School and served two years in the U. S. Army, ten months of which were spent overseas. He is now employed by Dupont Company in Camden.
