SUMTER
A 21-year-old Columbia woman died early Saturday when the car she was diving collided with another vehicle just outside Sumter.
Sonya Kay Geddings, of 108 Gordon Drive, died in the 12:30 a.m. accident on U. S. 76, two miles outside the city limits, Deputy Coroner Verna Moore said.
The car Miss Geddings was driving collided with a vehicle driven by a Sumter resident, Ms. Moore said.
She said Miss Geddings had apparently pulled out into the highway from a side road, and the other vehicle struck Miss Geddings’ car on the driver’s side.
H. Lauren Kirven, the driver of the other car, was treated at Tuomey Hospital in Sumter for minor injuries and released.
