Faye Garner Taylor of Camden, South Carolina | 1943 – 2021 | Obituary

A funeral service for Faye Garner Taylor, 78, will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel at 1139 US-1, Lugoff.  Bart Medlin will officiate.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park at 1659 Kershaw Hwy, Camden.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 PM on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 1106 Wildwood Lane, Elgin, SC  29045.

Faye passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021.  She was the daughter of the late Larkin William Garner and Nellie Mae Meeks Garner.  Born in Summerville, her family moved to Camden when she was young. She was a member of the Camden High School Class of 1962.  Faye was employed by the United States Postal Service until she retired.  Faye was a member of the Elgin Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Faye was known for her skills at cooking, baking, and sewing. She always had a huge garden, and had a green thumb that would rival any other.  She always shared all the fruits of her labor and canned what was left over.  She was also known for her work ethic, as she held many jobs in her lifetime.  She worked at Farmer Don’s and then Piggly Wiggly, where she was a manager for many years. She then went to work for the US Postal Service where her husband also worked.  They were always together, even in employment. 

In addition to her parents, Faye was predeceased by her husband, Gene A. Taylor, Sr., her son, Gene A. Taylor, Jr., and her brothers Alfred Garner, Linsey Garner, Oliver Garner and Melvin Garner.

Surviving are her daughter, Janet T. Hoffman (Sherri), of Seabrook Island; sons, James N. Taylor (Dena), of Kiawah Island and Jerry S. Taylor (Kim), of Lugoff; grandchildren, Rebecca Richbourg (Brandon), Andrew Taylor, Preston Taylor and Laurel Taylor; sisters, Valarie Lominac and Trancey Twitty, both of Camden; brothers, William T. Garner and Jack Garner, both of Lugoff, and Jimmy Garner, of Camden.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
