Obituary of James Alfred Hollis
CAMDEN – Funeral service for James Alfred Hollis, 73, will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Mt. Joshua Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Mr. Hollis, husband of the late Barbara S. Hollis, passed away at home on Thursday, December 2, 2021. Born in Lugoff, he was the son of the late Jesse Hollis Sr. and Maybell Hollis. He was a member of Mt. Joshua Missionary Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 203. He sang with the Gospel Cavaliers, Mt. Joshua Senior Choir and enjoyed fishing and puzzle books.
Surviving are his daughter, Lakeia Hollis Kinard of Camden; siblings, Susie Spriggs, David Hollis, Ida Jones, Jacqueline Williams and Joyce Johnson; and grandchildren, Kent Goodwin Jr., Dontrell Smiley and Durell Smiley. He was predeceased by a step-son, Darrick Smiley; and brothers, Jesse Calvin Hollis, George Edward Hollis, John Benjamin Hollis and Carl Jefferson.
