Blaney High School Holds Homecoming

Blaney High School held its Homecoming coronation in the gymnasium Friday Night, crowning Ruby Goff of the 12th grade Homecoming Queen.

Superintendent H. W. Rast acted as master of ceremonies, introducing the participants of the court, who were led in by trumpeter Rodney Kelly, followed by crown-bearer William Porter and Charles Branham, who carried the school colors.

Flower girl candidates were Ruth Aldrich and Nancy Anderson from the first grade: Barbara Copper and Cindy Marie Robinson from the second grade; Gayle Goodwin and Kay O’Quinn from the third grade: Pamela Brazelle and Mary O’Quinn from the fourth grade: Sandra Goff and Muriel Branham for the fifth grade; Carolyn Ross, Mary Porter and Doris Kelly from the six grade.

They were followed by toe dancer Madge Bradley.

Then came the parade of candidates for queen including Donnelle Branham, Judy Goff and Inez Aldrich from the seventh grade; Mary Jordan and Vivian Brazelle from the eighth grade; Fay Kirkland and Sarah Smith from the ninth grade; Jackie Branham and Peggy Stockman from the tenth grade; Betty Goff and Annette Branham from the 11th grade, and Shirley Branham and Miss Goff from the 12th grade.

Mrs. Carol Hall of the music faculty played the clavioline for the evening’s music.

Cinday Marie Robinson and Barbara Copper were announced as winners for flowers girls, with Pamela Brazelle as runner-up. Judy Goff and Fay Kirkland were elected attendants to the queen.

J. D. Watson, chairman of the board of trustees, crowned the queen and gave boxes of candy to the flower girls and attendants.

A basketball game followed the ceremonies.
