Hornsby Funeral This Afternoon
Funeral services for Charlie Bookman Hornsby, 56, will be held at 3 o’clock this afternoon at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Irby Bates, pastor of the West Columbia Baptist Church, and the Rev. Walter F Chapman of Blaney. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Hornsby of 416 Center Street died Sunday night at the Baptist Hospital.
Who was that manager for Atlantic Coast Life Insurance Co., having been with the firm for 15 years. He had lived in West Columbia for the past 15 months, living formerly in Blaney, where he was a member of Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Gertrude Glenn Hornsby of West Columbia; his mother, Mrs. Mattie J. Hornsby of West Columbia; one brother, Joe T. Hornsby of Blaney; one sister, Mrs. Etta Hornsby Goff of Blaney, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie Powell, Albert Merrill, Heyward H. Ross, Willas Ross, C. C. Wesinger and Julian Eleazer.
Honorary pallbearers will include W. A. Lowrey, A. L. Stevenson, D. E. Pendarvis, J. E. Bates, Hall Brook Willliams, L. B. Shumpert, I. D. Porter, George Nelson, Harry Turner, Dr. Hasell Ross, Dr. J. H Mathias, Jr., Dr. H. B. Williams and The Rev. Johnnie Bishop.
Active and honorary pallbearers will meet at the Thompson Funeral Home at 2:55 this afternoon.
