DIES BY OWN HAND

Watson Leave No Note Explaining Act.

Jacksonville, Fla., Jan. 30 – (AP) – Authorities have identified as R. J. Watson of Blaney, S. C., a man who committed suicide in a local hotel late Thursday night.

He was about 30 years of age and had registered as R. C. Davis of Charleston, S. C., officers said. We have been here several months. Watson left no note and no calls for shooting himself could be learned.

Funeral services for R. J. Watson were held yesterday in Jacksonville, according to information received over telephone last night.

R. J. Watson at one time was in the state penitentiary, where he was serving 10 years for the death of a soldier at Charleston. While on leave he attempted to commit suicide on two occasions and was given treatment at a hospital in Columbia. He was taken to the state hospital and there was put under observation. Later he was paroled by the governor. He then went to Charleston and later to Florida.
