Julius C. Gause entered eternal rest, January 23, 2022.
Mr. Gause was born September 11, 1933 in Conway SC. He was a son of the late Paul Dixon Gause, Sr. and Alma Metts Gause. Mr. Gause graduated from Conway High School and attended Coastal Carolina before joining the United States Marine Corp. in 1953 where he proudly served in the Korean Conflict. After receiving an Honorable discharge from the USMC, Mr. Gause pursued a career in the retail grocery business becoming Owner/Operator for the local Piggly Wiggly stores. Mr Gause served as president of the SC Food Retailers Association, President of the Association’s Credit Union and was elected by his peers as SC Grocer of the Year. His extended career included serving in the Kershaw County Treasurer’s Office and Planning and Zoning where he became director over the office. As a lifelong community servant, he served on the KC Advisory Board, Director for KC Chamber of Commerce, Co-Chairman for the KCMH Board and Finance Committee, President of the Camden Shrine Club, and Cassatt Water Board. He was also a member of Malvern Hill Baptist Church and past Gideon International speaker, serving as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher, along with serving on numerous committees.
Julius was predeceased by his wife, Sarah Lois Little after 52 years of marriage, a son, John Kurt Gause and a brother William (Bill) Gause. He is survived by two sons: Thomas William Gause (Wanda) and Richard Neil Gause (Lynn) and a brother Pete Gause (Elsie) of Conway. The extended family includes 5 grandchildren, Missi Lemonds (Scott), Clint Gause, Stacey McGee (Russell), Jennifer McLeod (Brandon), Haylee Loncar (Elliott), and 10 great grandchildren, Wade Thomas and Jules Lemonds, Skye and Ansley Gause, Kensie and Parker McGee, Connor, Wessley and Aaden McLeod and Henry Loncar.
The family would like to thank the in-home caregivers Jeana Pough, Melvin Murphy, and Stephanie Woods for the love and attention that was shown over the past few years. Because of you, the family was able to honor his wishes to remain in the home.
The family will receive friends at Kornegay Funeral Camden Chapel on Wednesday, January 26th from 5:30 PM-7:00 PM. Services will be held Thursday, January 27th at 3:00 PM at Malvern Hill Baptist Church with burial immediately following in the church cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to express gratitude for the loving care provided by MUSC Hospice and case manager Michelle Clark.
