To date, 15 goals that were not members last year have joined. Mr. Lockwood said that applications were coming in every day, and that a record enrollment was expected. In order to qualify for league basketball and debating contests, all schools must be registered, and dues paid, by February 1. For all other contests, including baseball and mental contest, the deadline date is March 1.

A medal is given each year to the district having the largest enrollment in proportion to the number of schools it contains. To date this year, district 7 – consisting of the counties of Florence, Williamsburg, Berkeley, Georgetown, and the city of Charleston – is in the lead with a percentage of 67; District 6, Chesterfield, Marlboro, Dillon, Marion and Horry, second, and District 4, York, Lancaster, Fairfield and Chester, third. The district having the largest increase in enrollment over the last year is the first, Oconee, Pickens, Greenville, Anderson and Abbeville.

Of the 306 high schools in the state, Mr. Lockwood predicted that possibly 200 would be enrolled in the league this year.
