Graveside services for Charles Kenneth Young will be held at Quaker Cemetery at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Rev. Allen Johnson will officiate. Charles died February 9, 2022, the son of the late Archie Lee Young and Tressa Hall Young. Charles had a great love for field trialing and an affinity for the outdoors. He was a founding member of the Mid-Carolina Field Trial Club, which began in 1960, and he remained an active member until his health did not allow him to continue in 2020. Charles bred, trained, and campaigned the 1984 South Carolina Shooting Dog Champion, Roundwood Rebel Joe. He was a two-term president of the South Carolina Field Trial Association and became a well-respected field trial judge. Charles judged multiple public and invitational trials throughout the United States, as well as twice judging the National Open Shooting Dog Championship in Union Springs, Alabama.
Charles, beloved father and grandfather, is survived by his daughters, Anne Marie Bolton (Michael), of Boykin, Lee Bastian (Alan), of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Chad Bolton, Casey Bolton, Drew Bastian (Ali), Morgan Bastian, Will Bastian, Caroline Bastian (Lucas Koster); great-grandson, John Camden Koster; brothers; Lynnwood Young (Charlene), of Cassatt, Willis Young, of Camden and his sister, Jo Montgomery (Frank) of Camden.
Other than his parents and his wife, Edna Jean Campbell Young, Charles was predeceased by a sister, Judy Horton and sister-in-law, Betty Young.
Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
