ELGIN – Memorial service of Harry Nicholas Demetres Sr., will be held at noon today, March 28, 2001, at Harmony Baptist Church, conducted by Pastor Chris Smith. Shives Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Demetres died Monday, March 26, 2001. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on November 26, 1928, he was a son of the late Nicholas John Demetres and Efthimia Mary Petrakon Demetres. Mr. Demetres was a U.S. Army/Air Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired as an employee of Orange County, Fla., where he spent many years as a Mechanical Inspector and Consultant. Mr. Demetres was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, and was an avid golfer.
Surviving are his wife, Penella Harvey Demetres of Elgin, sons, Ron Demetres of Tucson, Ariz., Edward Demetres and his wife, Kathy of Bayshore, N.Y., Harry Demetres and his wife, Cindy of Orlando, Fla., daughter, Kristie Demetres of Orlando; three stepsons, Lloyd Tilton, Mark Tilton and Larry Tilton, all of South Carolina; sister, Georgia Demetres; brothers, Pete Demetres, Stephen Demetres and Philip Demetres.
