ELGIN, SC — Ruthe Brooks Cochran, widow of Dr. Robert A. Cochran, died March 1, 2006.

Born June 9, 1922, in Library, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Ida Herbert Brooks and Ira Stanton Brooks. Ruthie graduated from Sewickley Valley Pennsylvania School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She married Robert Anderson Cochran, M.D. on July 19, 1947 in St. Stephens Chapel, Sewickley, Pennsylvania.

She is survived by children, Harry B. Cochran of Lake Wateree, Lucinda C. Sanders of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Robert A. Cochran, Jr., M.D. of Spartanburg, Marjorie C. Copeland of Columbia, Phoebe C. Palmer of Columbia, and Molly C. Steadman of Florence; grandchildren, Lee W. Sanders, Jr., J. Brooks Cochran, Robert A. Chochran, III, William S. Cochran, John Clark Cochran, Ira Brooks Cochran, Harry A. Cochran, Marguerite Rosa Cochran, James C. Copeland, Sally L. Copeland, Marjorie M. Palmer, Laura M. Steadman, M. Stephen Steadman; step-grandchildren, Stormie J. Aiken and C.J. Aiken; and sister, Ann L. Brooks. Mrs. Cochran was predeceased by a grandson, Leif Ericcson Cochran; by brothers, J. Herbert Brooks and Richard S. Brooks; and by sisters, Marjorie Brooks and Jeanne B. Gadd.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Salem United Methodist Church, with Rev. John Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the funeral service.
