Thursday the later class periods were shortened and school was dismissed early in order that the faculty could attend the program meeting of the commercial teacher’s division at the state teacher’s convention which was held Thursday afternoon in the Sunday school rooms of the First Baptist church, Mrs. D. T. Faulkenberry and Mrs. J. A. Merritt attended the evening meeting and also the reception.
Mrs. Angie Earle of Greenville was called during the week for special secretarial work for several days. Miss Earle was engaged at the Headquarters of the Young Democrats of America.
Miss Ann Wills Long of Walhalla did some special work during the week for one of the divisions of the state department of education.
Miss Oneida Thomasson, sister of Miss Annave Thomasson of Clover, was placed during the week with one of the office at the University of South Carolina.
Jack Workman of Newberry will be out of school for about a week as he is substituting for the posting machine operator of one of the larger wholesale grocery companies in Columbia.
A welcome visitor at the college office last week was a former student, Nellie Bultman of Columbia.
Miss Betty Tyler had as her visitor Friday morning, her mother, Mrs. R. M. Tyler, who was in Columbia to attend the state teachers’ convention, Friday morning Betty was placed in a position requiring afternoon work, but she will continue her usual daily studies.
Miss Mary Beets of Columbia returned to school to resume her studies Friday after having been out because of illness.
Miss Mary Alice Horne and Miss “Happy” Frierson will spent this weekend in Charleston.
Franklin Griffith of Elloree will spend the weekend at his home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Griffith.
Miss Marjorie Outlaw of Blaney will have as guest this weekend, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Outlaw.
Miss Billie Scott of Williston is spending the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. . A. P. Scott.
Mrs. Leila Smith of Columbia returned to school this week after completing several days’ special work with one of the prominent real estate agencies in the city.
Mrs. M. B. Chitwood received during the week her certificate in typing, making 60 works a minute net.
Miss Grace Buie is spending the weekend in Denmark with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. D. Buie.
