Robert Alexander Bruce, Jr. of Camden, South Carolina | 1933 – 2022 | Obituary

A memorial service for Robert Alexander Bruce, Jr. will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 608 Black River Road, Camden, SC, 29020.  Rev. Steven Lee will officiate. Visitation for family and friends will be at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

Alec, the son of the late Robert Alexander, Sr. and Esther Garvin Bruce, died on August 11, 2022.  He was an avid cyclist and runner, and retired from DuPont, where he worked as a mechanic.

 He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Bruce Lee (Patrick) of Orangeburg; son, Robert Phillip Bruce of Camden; daughter-in-law, Gina R. Bruce of Elgin; grandchildren, Jason Lee (Jessica), Rebecca Duvall (Steven), Jonathan Bruce (Candace), Samuel Bruce (Heather), James Bruce, and Darby Canavan; and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Alec was predeceased by his wife, Emily Langley Bruce; daughter, Sonya Kay Bruce; son Jonathan Garvin Bruce; sister Mary Bruce Mullins; and brother Phillip Howell Bruce.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
