Barbara Hendrix of Camden, South Carolina | 1952 – 2022 | Obituary
A graveside memorial service to celebrate the life of Barbara Ford Hendrix, 70, of Camden, SC, will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 12, 2022, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be sent to the Duke Cancer Institute, 710 W. Main Street, Suite 200, Durham, NC, 27701.
Barbara died Sunday, August 7, 2022. Born in South Boston, VA, she was the daughter of the late William Ford and Thelma (Martin) Harris.
Life took Barbara to many places, but she considered her home always to be North Myrtle Beach where she had numerous friends and many fond memories building a life and family with her late husband, George. While Barbara held various jobs throughout her life, her passion was in raising her two sons, Tal and Chad Hendrix. Later relocating to Irmo, SC and then again to Camden, SC, Barbara never struggled making new friends. Her charm and charisma always filled the room and drew in a crowd.
In 2011, Barbara was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and a rare disease stemming from this cancer, amyloidosis. Her doctors gave her just a few years with this disease, which she turned into an eleven-year battle through determination and courage. Her story and her fight is an inspiration to many who battle this disease.
She is survived by two proud sons, George Talmage Hendrix, IV (Sarah) of Fort Mill, SC, Chad McCuen Hendrix (Joni) of Huntersville, NC; and grandchildren Aubrey Gayle Hendrix, Seth McCuen Hendrix, Lillian Grace Hendrix, and George Talmage Hendrix, V.
Barbara was predeceased (2017) by her late husband, George Talmage Hendrix, III. Her family finds comfort in knowing they are together again.
Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
