Obituary

Mr. Willis (Bubba) Cantey, of Lugoff, South Carolina, was the son of the late Mr. Gilbert Cantey and Daisy Cantey Sr. He was born April 12, 1947, and entered into eternal rest after a brief illness on September 1, 2022, at Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge Hospital, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Mr. Cantey was educated in the Kershaw County Public Schools. Early in his career, he worked for Camden Hardwood.  He worked at Sandhill Auto Parts and Midlands Raceway Park in Lugoff, SC.  He enjoyed spending time with his dogs, listening to music, working with cars, watching westerns, spending time with family, and enjoying a simple and quiet life.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents; brothers, Gilbert “June Bug” Cantey Jr., Thomas “Sonny Boy” Cantey, and Walter “Bookey” Cantey; a sister, Dorothy Cantey O’Neal.

Those left to cherish his fond memories, grieve his passing, and celebrate his homegoing are a son, Michael Cantey of Columbia, South Carolina; a daughter, Yvonne (Jermaine) Bunyon of Columbia, South Carolina; two loving and devoted sisters, Lillie Lyles of Monroe, North Carolina and Lottie (Joseph) Lyles of Elgin, South Carolina; and special family, Jim, Kelley, and Betsy Burr of Lugoff, South Carolina.  He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
