Obituary of Mary Motley Johnson

ELGIN – Graveside service for Mary Motley Johnson, 85, will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.  The Rev. Dr. Dan Griffin will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International.

Mrs. Johnson, wife of the late William Johnson, passed away at home on Sunday, December 25, 2022.  Born in Blaney, she was the daughter of the late John Glenn Motley and Mary Elizabeth Ross Motley.  She retired as a vice president  with Bank Of America and was a member of Union Baptist Church.  She enjoyed reading, puzzles and gardening.

Surviving are her daughter, Anne Johnson Harrison; siblings, Frank Motley (Ann), Fannie Miles (Kenny), Shirley Goff and Carolyn Hightower; grandchildren, Emmett Harrison (Hanna) and Arianna Byrd  (Geoff); and a great-grandson, Oliver Junious Byrd.  She was predeceased by siblings, Brinton Motley, Judge Motley, Sammie Motley, Harold Motley, Sylvia Flynn, Claude Motley and Ruby Kelly.
