Obituary
Doris Elaine Williams Kelly, the youngest child of Wyatt and Adlisher Brown Williams, was born November 18, 1948 and transitioned on August 2, 2023. Doris was raised in a God-fearing home where morning prayer was a way of life.
She gained her early religious training at Good Hope AME Zion Church and later joined Sanders Creek Baptist Church. In 1980, she moved to assist her nephew Rev. Ronald Williams at Greater Faith & Joy Tabernacle Church where she served faithfully until her health no longer permitted. At Greater Faith & Joy, Doris was the organizer and president of the usher board; she served as church treasurer; and a faithful member of the Pastor’s Aide Club.
Doris was a proud alumni of the historical Jackson High School where she made life-long friendships and bonds. She graduated from Palmer College in Columbia, South Carolina. Doris worked in the educational system of Kershaw County for several years until she settled in the banking field where she served the community of Camden, Columbia and Sumter. Her friendly face and glowing smile added joy and compassion to many customers for decades.
Doris united with the love of her life, Fred Kelly, November 8th, 1974. The two had one loving son, Fred Darin Kelly, who preceded her in death. Along with her parents, Wyatt and Adlisher, Doris now joins her siblings George, Anna Mae, Mattie, Andrew, Estelle, Betty, Jessie, James, Lewis and Elizabeth in the Great Ever After.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted and caring husband, Fred, two step-daughters, Denise (John) Bennett of Lugoff, SC; Michelle (George) Anderson of Columbia, SC; one brother, Thomas (Geneva) Williams of Columbia, SC; one sister, Bernice Norwood of Camden, SC; two sisters-in-laws, Jackie Williams of Camden, SC; Mary Kelly Williams of New York, NY; three brothers-in-laws, Wallace Kelly of New York, NY, Reuben Kelly of Camden, SC, and Rev. Dr. James Green of Brooklyn, NY; four grandchildren, Keyerra Anderson of Tonga, Matthew Anderson of Charlotte, NC, Jalen and Trinity Bennett of Lugoff, SC; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends.
