Obituary of Robert Gary McManus

CAMDEN – Funeral service for Robert Gary McManus, 91, will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 11am at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1hr prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. McManus passed away on Friday, August 25. Born in Kershaw County, SC, he was the son of the late Wilbur McManus and Annie Dennis McManus. Robert was a Korean War Veteran. He had a brilliant mind and enjoyed his career in aviation and diesel mechanics where he was very meticulous in every detail even into his eighties. Always a curious learner, he also enjoyed sharing his knowledge. He had a wit and humor that endeared him to all he met. Robert loved his family dearly.

He is predeceased by his parents; brothers, J.W. McManus, Thomas McManus, Richard McManus; and sisters, Geneva Smith and Geraldine Napper. Robert is survived by his son, Greg (Susan) McManus; daughter, Connie (Chuck) Ussery; brother, Dale McManus; grandchildren, Haylee Pridgen, Zach McManus, and Lindsey McManus; as well as beloved great grandchildren, Hadley, Hudson, Dansby, Porter and Logan; also, two dear nephews, Tommy McManus and Fred McManus.
