Joe Louis Owens Sr., 87 years of age, of Bethune South Carolina entered eternal rest on Sunday September 24,2023.

Joe was born March 6,1936 in Allendale, South Carolina and moved to Savannah, Georgia at an early age. He was preceded in death by his father Lewis Owens, mother Mary Frazier Owens and sister Ida Murray.

He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where was a part of the Brotherhood Ministry. 

He was employed with Kershaw County School District for 36 years. He took pride in his work and always available to offer a helping hand and many times went above and beyond the call of duty.  Joe was a dedicated worker and leader and was loved by all that encountered him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 52 years Minnie Hough Owens. Three daughters Angela Owens-Harding of San Diego California, Myra Council (David), and Amanda Owens of Camden SC. He has one son Joe Owens Jr. (Monica) of Bethune SC. One sister Vernita Brown of Patterson NJ, one sister-in-law Maggie Chestnut of North Augusta SC, one aunt Dorothy Brabham of Deltona FL, three brothers-in-law, Isaiah Hough (Indra) of Bethune SC, Marion Hough (Jacqueline) of Raleigh NC, Fred Cunningham of Camden SC. He has twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
