Cardinal Newman standout voted Midlands high school volleyball player of week

The votes have been tabulated and Kellee Craig of Cardinal Newman is the winner in The State’s Midlands high school volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 25-30.

Thanks to everyone who voted for the poll. A new one will be out next week.

Ayanna Connell, Camden: The junior middle hitter finished with 23 kills, 12 digs, 11 blocks and 10 aces in wins over Lugoff-Elgin, Lakewood and Marlboro County.

Kellee Craig, Cardinal Newman: The Cardinals won five of six matches during the week, losing once to Class 4A No. 1 ranked North Myrtle Beach. Craig posted 79 service receptions and 63 digs. She had 22 digs in a two-set win over Wando.

Maddy Hines, Hammond: Hines, a libero, served 100% on the week with seven aces, 44 service receptions, five kills, nine assists and 49 digs in two matches last week.

Emma Holland, Pelion: The senior outside hitter finished the week with 15 kills, 16 digs and five aces in wins over Strom Thurmond and Batesburg-Leesville.

Liddiani Jackson, Keenan: The junior libero ended the week with 38 digs, 20 service receptions and seven aces in the two wins over Columbia last week.

Meredith McEnulty, Gilbert: The senior setter helped the Indians go 2-1 in region contests last week. She recorded 22 kills, 20 aces, nine digs and two blocks with wins over Swansea and Dreher and a loss to Orangeburg-Wilkinson.

Allie Royer, White Knoll: Royer had to step in as libero in a three-set loss to River Bluff and she tallied 11 digs and just three errors on her 21 service receptions. She also recorded an ace.

Caroline Tucker, River Bluff: The Gators finished sixth in the Wildcats Tournament. Tucker, a sophomore, recorded 22 digs, four aces and 40 kills in 111 attempts. She hit 0.252 in five matches on Saturday.
