Obituary for Mr. James Ross Owen

James “Jimmy” Ross Owen, 73, of Elgin, died on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. Born on October 7, 1947, in Greenwood, SC, he was the son of the late Edward Lawrence Owen and Margaret Fortner Owen.

Jimmy proudly served our country as an US Army solider in the Vietnam war. During this time, he selflessly spent a year-long tour overseas. Later in his life, he went on to work for Galeana and retired after 29 years of dedication. Mr. Owen was an active member and commander for Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 11079.

He is survived by his brothers, Dennis Owen and Rick Owen (Sandy); Sister-in-law, Jan Owen. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Becky Smith (Milton); and brothers, Skip Owen and Billy Owen; along with numerous loving nieces and nephews.

The service for Mr. Owen will be held at 3 o’clock on Wednesday, October 6th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext Columbia, SC.
