Obituary of Charles Brewer Horton
Charles Brewer Horton, Sr., 88, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Born in Kershaw County on July 10, 1935, he was the son of the late LeRoy and Geneva Cobb Horton. Mr. Horton was a truck driver, employed with Praxair formerly known as Union Carbide for 25 years before retiring in 1997. There he received numerous awards including a one, and two-million-mile driving award. Prior to this, he served as a fireman with the Camden Fire Department. He was a faithful member at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Camden. Mr. Horton enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, working in his yard, and above all else being with his family.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 37 years, Anita Stone Horton; son, Charles “Doug” Brewer Horton, Jr. (Linda) of Cassatt; sister, Sally Redders (Sonny) of Monks Corner; grandchildren, Charles “Chuck” Brewer Horton III (Lindsey) of Camden and Heather Moseley (Jeremy) of Chapin; great-grandchildren, Charles “Charlie” Brewer Horton IV of Camden, Savannah Paige Horton of Camden, Carter Reese Moseley of Chapin, and Rhett Baxter Moseley of Chapin. He was predeceased by an infant son; and sisters, Norma Buff and Betty Kompanik.
A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, March 05, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Camden, SC. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. The Rev. Gene Stokes and the Rev. David Brannen will officiate.
