Horace Jacobs Enters County House Race

Horace T. Jacobs, well known Pontiac farmer and business man of Richland county, today announced his candidacy for the House of Representatives in the forthcoming county Democratic primary election. He was the first to formally announce.

Mr. Jacobs is the son of Mrs. Laura Jacobs of Pontiac and the late Wade Hampton Jacobs, who served as a magistrate in Richland county for 22 years.

He operates a 278-acre farm at Pontiac, where he lives. In addition to his farm work, Mr. Jacobs also owns and operates a tailor shop in Columbia.

Mr. Jacobs is married, Mrs Jacobs being the former Miss Clara Mae Kizer of Holly Hill, and they have three children, including Sylvia, nine; Hampton, seven; and Larry, who was born last February 9.

After finishing the rural schools of Richland county, Mr. Jacobs completed a business course and was graduated from the Bowen-McFeat Business College. Following graduation, he resumed farming – now operates a five-horse farm – and later opened his business place here.

He is a member of the Crescent Hill Baptist Church; Columbia Lodge No. 1190 of the Elks; and the Wade Hampton Club of Young Democrats of Richland county.
