A funeral service to honor the life of Henry Wright Granger, 77, of Camden, SC, will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Ralph Sims will officiate. A private burial with military rites will be held at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood, Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923 or First Baptist Church, 606 Dearborn Street, Great Falls, SC 29055.
Henry died Monday, March 13, 2017 after a long courageous battle with scleroderma. He was born in Union, SC, the son of the late Howard Granger and Ozie Albert Granger. After high school graduation, Henry attended Georgia Military Academy and served in the US Army before working at DuPont for 36 years. He was an avid golfer and Gamecock fan. Henry enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours working in his yard, watching sports events, playing cards with family and friends, and singing in the Silver Tones at First Baptist Church, where he was a member. He felt his greatest blessings were his family and the time he spent with them.
Henry leaves his wife of 53 years, Vickie Martin Granger; daughters, Parrish Granger Rabon (Keith) and Paige Granger Moranos (Scott), all of Camden; grandchildren, Margaret, Granger and Kathryn Rabon, Kirkland and Collins Moranos; sister, Laurice Dreher; and his brother, Lawrence Granger.
The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Tallulah Holmstrom and also the staff at MUSC for their support and compassion during Henry’s illness.
