Marlon Salmond, Sr. Obituary

On June 12, 2024, Mr. Marlon Melvernon Salmond, Sr., 48, of Camden, SC, known to many as “Meat-Meat,” passed away at Spartanburg Hospice Hospital. His mother Phyllis Brevard, father Isaac Canty, sister Ariel Elaine Salmond, five uncles, and a host of other family members preceded him in death.

Marlon was a student at Norwalk High in Norwalk, Connecticut. Following graduation, he moved to South Carolina and settled there. Marlon had a number of jobs, the most recent of which was team lead at Suominen. Marlon was a selfless, brave, and gregarious man who put in. a lot of effort to support his family. His heart was purte gold! You would fall deeply in love with him if you ever had the opportunity to meet him. In addition to working hard and taking care of his family, Marlon enjoyed smoking natural marijuana. Like he used to say, “This is my medicine.” In addition, he loved going fishing and spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish are his step-father Harold Brevard of Asheville, North Carolina, his wife Celestia Jones of Camden, South Carolina; one brother, Rico Salmond of Camden, South Carolina; two sister, Shiara (Chapelle) Edwards of Camden, South Carolina and Latasha (John) Lee of Lugoff, South Carolina; five sons, Marlon Salmond Jr., Justice Salmon, Shaki Salmond, Jayden Salmond, Camren Salmond all of Camden, South Carolina; four daughters, Kearra Salmond of Norwalk, Connecticut; Shakiya, Chanell and Kylie Salmond of Camden, South Carolina; three nieces; three nephews; one granddaughter, Treasure Boyke of Norwalk, Connecticut; two god mothers; Diane Lucas Miller of Camden, South Carolina and Paula Weldon of Norwolk, Connecticut, two god brothers; Justin Miller and EJ Barrett of Columbia, South Carolina, his god sister, Eshaute Miller, two favor tie cousins, Vonetta Owens of Columbia, South Carolina and Peyshanna Lofflin of Norwalk, Connecticut; two bonus brothers; Lovell Kingsberry of New York and Sean Davis of Camden, South Carolina; four aunts and a plethora of other family members and friends.
