Charles David “CD” Durant passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on February 26, 1950, he lived a life full of love, adventure, and dedication.
CD graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1968 and went into the military in 1969, proudly serving as a Vietnam veteran. After his military service, he spent 32 years working at DuPont, where he was known for his hard work and commitment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie Mae Scott Durant and Eddie Durant; his son, Charles David Durant Jr.; his grandson, Malik Tate; and his siblings, Darnell Laws, Gerald Durant, Cynthia Durant, and Ronald Durant. CD is survived by his loving wife, Tonia Durant; his children Tyrone Williams, Cierra Durant, Shardá Powell, and Shontè Powell; his grandchildren Aaliyah Powell, Nova Hightower, and King Johnson; his siblings Theresa Durant and Deneen Durant; and his aunt Margaret Durant.
CD had a zest for life that was evident in everything he did. He loved fishing, bowling, riding his Harley Davidson, and practicing taekwondo. In his later years, he cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing pool and vacationing with loved ones.
Known for being the life of the party, CD always brought good energy and a positive spirit wherever he went. He was a motivator, encouraging his family to stay active and live healthy lifestyles. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Charles David “CD” Durant will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His legacy of love, strength, and joy will continue to inspire us all.
