Obituary of Marion “Bunch” Porter

Marion “Bunch” Porter, 75, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024. Born in Camden, SC, on August 29, 1948, he was the son of the late James E. Porter and Elizabeth Murphy Porter. Mr. Porter was a cook for Murphy’s Kitchen, Camden, SC. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking.

Left to cherish his memories is his daughter, Yvette Renee Johnson; sister, Susie Porter of Dunellen, NJ; grandchildren, Antonio Johnson, Antwan Johnson, Antoinette Simon and Ebony Johnson; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-laws, Rev. Lillie Williams, Ora Jenkins (Roland), Estell Johnston, Mae Bennett, Lisa Wright (Danny), LaVern Cauthen (Darnell) and Josephine Porter; brothers-in-laws, Howard Bennett (Delores), Herbert Bennet (Thomascina), Rev. Dr. Bill Bennett (Lillie); nephew, Derrick “Keith” Porter; furbaby, Rosie; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mr. Porter was predeceased by his late wife of 40 years, Luella Bennett Porter; daughter, Fredricka Porter; brother, James A. Porter; sister, Rosa Porter.

A memorial service for Mr. Porter will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 11:00 am at Powers Funeral Home. With burial to follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Rembert, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the funeral home. The family will also be receiving friends at 6720 Glover Ln, Rembert S.C. on Thursday and Friday. The Rev. Dr. Billy Bennett will be officiating.
