Obituary of Claude Ray, Jr.

Claude Ray, Jr., 87, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. Born on July 19, 1937, in Cassatt, SC, he was the son of the late James Claude and Viola Parker Ray, Sr. and the husband of Pansy Ernestine Ray.

Mr. Ray enjoyed working on lawnmowers, gardening, riding his golf cart, and talking to neighbors in the Pine Grove community. He loved spending time with his family and with his dog Scout.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Ray is survived by sons, Tim Ray (Chrissy) and James “Red” Ray (B.J.), Rodger Ray (Mary), Johnny Ray, and Jimmy Ray; grandchildren, Jared Ray,  Andrew Sims, Samuel Sims, Dylan Ray, Ashley Ray, Ryder Ray, Josh Ray; and sisters, Sarah Branham, Carolyn Morris, and Louise Hall; and son-in-law, Teddy Sims.

Mr. Ray was predeceased by his grandson, Daniel Ray; daughter, Lisa Sims; Brothers James C. Ray, Jr., Charles “Bubba” Ray; sisters, Jessie Hughes Anderson, Mary Alice Osmer, Geneva Lyles, and Vera Stephens

Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 29th at 5:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The Rev. Eric Boone will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
