Edward “Q” Jenkins Obituary
Edward “Q” Jenkins, age 73, was born in Sumter County, South Carolina, on October 14, 1950. He was the son of the late Edward Jenkins, the late Annie Lee Bennett McKenzie, and the grandson of the late Eddie and Annie Richardson Bennet (Mommo). Edward gained his wings on Monday, July 22nd, 2024.
He attended Ebenezer High School and later received his Graduate Equivalency Degree (GED). Edward accepted Christ at an early age and faithfully attended Union Baptist Church under the eye of his devoted grandmother Mommo who raised him to fear God and keep his hand in the hands of the Lord. As an adult he relocated to Rochester, New York where he met and married Rosa L. Carr and from that union they had two beautiful daughters. Later he relocated to Washington, DC and married Rosetta Jenkins.
Edward was employed with Waste Management where he became a Certified Welder and eventually open the Lizard Construction Company to continue his love of creating and repairing metal. He gained several government security clearances to include the White House and Homeland Security. Edward was awarded several government contracts to repair trash compactors, metal fencing, and to build metal walls as needed. Once his health started to decline, he received assistance from his son-in-law Darrell Rice Sr. to complete these contractual commitments.
Edward was affectionately known as “Q” or “Fuzzy” depending on what side of town you were in. Growing up he always protected his younger siblings especially his sister Johnnie Mae who until his death was still protecting her. Q was the life of the party and always wanted to have a good time. If you went anywhere with Edward, you knew you were protected and going to have a good time. He loved calling his family and asking how they were doing, and if he knew you were in need, he would attempt to fulfill the need.
He was proceeded in death by his late wife Rosetta Jenkins, both parents, Edward Jenkins and Annie Lee Bennett McKenzie, grandparents.
