Clifford Leonard, Jr., 73, of Columbia, SC died on August 15, 2024 after a short illness. He was a graduate of Aiken Preparatory School in Aiken, SC, a 1969 graduate of South Kent School in South Kent, Connecticut and a 1973 graduate of Sewanee, University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. He pursued graduate studies in geology and had a lifelong interest in that science.

He was born in Lake Forest, Illinois and was the son of the late Clifford Leonard of Lake Forest, Illinois (Stepmother: Esther P. Leonard, deceased) and the late Alice Shoolbred Boykin of Boykin, SC (Stepfather: Lemuel Whitaker Boykin II, deceased). Surviving are sisters Virginia Leonard Barnette of Columbia, SC, Alice Boykin Belger (Wayne) of Boykin, SC, May Cantey Boykin (Jamie) of Boykin, SC, Mary Deas Boykin Wortley (Tommy) of Middletown, Ohio, and a brother, Lemuel Whitaker Boykin V (Susan) of Waxhaw, NC as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held in Lake Forest Cemetery, Lake Forest, Illinois on August 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM. A memorial service will be held at Swift Creek Church in Boykin, SC at a later date. Memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 1315 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC, 29020.
